    what v. whatever v. which

I would like to ask you about the difference among "what", "whatever", and "which" for the contex.

1.Click on "Tools", "Add-ons", then you can search for whatever dictionary in the page that appears.
2.Click on "Tools", "Add-ons", then you can search for which dictionary in the page that appears.
3.Click on "Tools", "Add-ons", then you can search for what dictionary in the page that appears.

    Thank you.

2 and 3 are wrong. You could use "whatever" or "whichever" in that context.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Please would you explain why 2 and 3 are wrong?

    Thank you.

Re: what v. whatever v. which

They are not the appropriate words for this context.

But how can you determine or understand this?

    Thank you.

Re: what v. whatever v. which

See the first definition of 'whichever' here. 'What' and 'which' do not convey that idea.

Re: what v. whatever v. which

Because I learn English in a poor way, what and which seems to me that they convey the idea that of "whatever" and "whichever" but "whatever" and "whichever" are strong versions. So I must concentrate on distinguishing aspects of these four.

    Thank you.
