    nuance in the message

    Dear friends,

I'm reading a text about sea ice loss and polar bears and I've come across the following extract:

“When you’re using it as a marketing tool and to bring in donations, there can be a tendency to lose the nuance in the message,” said Todd Atwood, a research wildlife biologist at the United States Geological Survey’s Alaska Science Center. “And with polar bears in particular, I think the nuances are important.”

What is "nuance" here? Does it mean "the main idea"?

    Thanks

    Re: nuance in the message

What definitions have you found for "nuance" in good dictionaries?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I know the definition of "nuance" as some minor detail (subtle detail), but seems to me it doesn't suit us here. What dp you think?

Why do you think it doesn't work? Remember that "nuance" means a special meaning in a subtle way.
