The mother of the victim came out of the court

I am wondering if my sentence sounds natural.

The mother of the victim came out of the court, stood on the stairs, and making expansive hand gestures, told the reporters that the judge was too lenient towards the killer of her daughter.

I reckon so. I think you should say "...stood on the stairs and, making expansive hand gestures, told...", and if I were being really nitpicky, I might also say "her daughter's killer" in preference to "the killer of her daughter." But it's basically perfect.

It needs a comma after and. I agree with Calis that her daughter's killer would be better.
