Diseases affect people regardless of race, gender or nationality. However, although developed countries have managed tocontrol most of contagious diseases through immunization programmes. Many people in developing countries are still suffering from several such severe diseases which can be easily prevented. Therefore, the U.S., as a leading deveoped country should support international immunization efforts.

It is necessary for all countries to work together to eradicate diseases which can spread worldwide. For example, Polio is a highly contagious and often deadly virus which can damage a person's brain and spine and leave them paralyzed. Every year, millions of newborns are still infected with Polio in developing countries. Although there is no cure for Polio, vaccination can effectively prevent it. Another pertinent example is smallpox. That horrible disease used to kill and disfigure numerous people around the world. However, concerted international efforts and rigorous immunization programmes totally eradicated smallpox from the entire globe. It doesn't exist now; It's gone.
Thus all nations should be united to fight against any epidemic.

Additionaly, every year in the U.S., thousands of surplus vaccines are left to pile up and gather dust. It is clearly better to donate them to those who need the vaccines. Storing the medicines for extended periods cost money and to dispose them as they expire is even worse. It is very a sad and tragic irony that we are spoiling enormous quantities of useful vaccines while millions of people are dying due to the unavailability of these vaccines to them.

Moreover, It is our moral duty to help those who are in need. The U.S. economy is the largest in the world; therefore, the U.S. can easily afford to help poorer countries with their immunization programmes. Infectious disease are the one of the main miseries of people in developing countries, and they can be effectively controlled by vaccination. If we are able to prevent the pain and suffering of our fellow human beings we should not hesitate to do so.

In conclusion, developed countries like the U.S. should help poorer countries with their immunization efforts against contagious diseases. This is because those diseases can spread globly. Moreover, the U.S. has plenty of surplus vaccines, and we all have moral duty to help others in need.
