    I'm shaking my hair

Child (while shaking her head and laughing): I'm shaking my hair!

The reason she's laughing is because she's got long hair and shaking her head makes her hair go onto and off her face. How's she supposed to describe what she's doing to her hair? We don't shake our hair, do we?

    Re: I'm shaking my hair

It is true that we never hear "shake ... hair." I have occasionally heard "toss ... hair.' But since you specified that the phase came from a child, I think "shake my hair" is something one could reasonably expect to hear and easily understand.

If she's flinging her head round, especially if she's doing it backwards and forwards, she's "headbanging", a dance (I'm not sure it should be called that!) style common with heavy metal bands and fans.
