As Robert talked with his girlfriend

I am wondering if my sentences sound natural. Would you please correct my mistakes? Do I need to add anything after "tell her"?

As Robert talked with his girlfriend, he felt that her mind wandered; she was not interested in his words. He was hurt but did not dare to tell her.

Ending with tell her is fine. You can remove the to after "dare" without changing the meaning. (Dare is a rare - maybe unique - verb that can be both modal and non-modal.)
    I am not a teacher.
