How about you? vs. What about you?

    Hi teachers,
    Let's take one example:
    A: How are you?
B: I'm fine, thanks. How about you?/What about you?
    A: I'm OK.
Is there any difference between How about you? and What about you?
    Thanks in advance

I agree that they're pretty much the same, though formally I would probably use 'how'.
