Sharp vision: New glasses help the legally blind to see

    Hi,
The above is a headline from the China Post, a local English Newspaper here. What does "the legally blind" refer to? Thanks,

    Re: the legally blind

Some people may not be 100% blind but still have very limited vision. If their vision is limited enough to meet certain legally defined criteria then they are eligible for certain services.

Here are a few links which describe those definitions in more detail.

    Re: the legally blind

In the UK, the term "registered blind" is used. It applies to people with a variety of sight problems.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: the legally blind

Legally blind people in the US have absent or severely limited vision. They qualify for services such as the Library of Congress Talking Books program.

"Legally blind" people also get a higher standard deduction on their US income taxes.
