    trimmings

    Please proofread my sentences.
    a. But by a suitable choice/selection of your trimmings you can ensure that the meal is well balanced.
    b. Through a suitable choice/selection of your trimmings you can ensure that the meal is well balanced.
    Many thanks in advance.

Use either choice or selection, not both. (Choice is more conversational.)

The your is fine but not needed.

Use commas to show dependent clauses.

Use hyphens to show that you've created an adjective out of two words.

Don't say in advance. Your thanks were obviously in advance, since no one had answered you yet.

    You're welcome!

I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

    Re: trimmings

I wouldn't hyphenate well balanced there. Write a well-balanced meal (because "well-balanced" is a compound adjective) and a meal that is well balanced (because "well" is an adverb modifying the adjective "balanced").
    I am not a teacher.
