    the one it this that

The air in the mall isn't as fresh as____ in the park.

    A the one B it C this D that

I think the correct answer is B. Because "it" means the air. Could you please tell me which one is correct? Thank you!

Re: the one it this that

You could only put "it" there if it were followed by "is in the park". So B is wrong. What would be your next choice?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

emsr2dr, if B is wrong, I don't know which one is correct. Because air is a uncountable noun. A is not right. And if this is correct. I think that is also correct. But the correct answer is only on. So I don't know which one is correct.

Mike, the bit I quoted above shows how important quotation marks are. Without them, how does the reader know that if this is correct is asking about the word "this", rather than the statement referred to by "this"?

    For example:

We've seen that elephants can't fly. If this is correct, is it also true that rhinoceroses can't fly? In that question, "this" refers to the statement "elephants can't fly".

'This' refers to the previous statement in 'If this is correct'.
'This' refers to the word 'this' in 'If "this" is correct'.
