    Losing the game,

    Hi,

Losing the game, she gave up playing.

Is the comma necessary in the above sentence?

    Re: Losing the game,

Yes. I assume you're aware that your sentence means that she gave up playing before the game was over. If she gave up for good after losing one specific game, you would say "Having lost the game, she gave up playing".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

It means 'When she was losing the game, she gave up playing', which means 'When she was going to lose the game, she gave up playing', where the game was not yet over.

    Am I right or wrong?
    I am not a teacher.

    Re: Losing the game,

The first suggests she was simply behind, while the second suggests she knew she could not come back and win. As/since/because she was losing work better for me.
