    Trade between countries has increased.

    Dear all,

I have a question concerning word order.

I did several google searches and now I'm more confused than before.

Actually the question is very simple:

    Is the following sentence correct?

    - Trade between countries has increased.

To me (non native speaker) it sounds perfectly fine. However, isn't the subject - verb - object rule violated and the correct sentence is:
    - Trade has increased between countries.

I have no problem with the sentence

    - Trade has increased dramatically over the past years.

This sentence is straight forward, "over the past years" is the object and therefore has to follow the verb.
But the first sentence is very confusing.

    Thank you in advance!

Re: Trade between countries has increased.

Yes, it's correct. No grammatical rules have been violated.

The subject is Trade between countries and the predicate, or verb phrase is has increased.

Note: over the past years is not an object.
