Re: Personal diary practice
Dear diary…
Generally, when we think of a journal the first picture that comes to our minds is a high-school girl writing about boys, quarrels with her parents and struggles with her self-identity. It seems to be reserved only for that range of age; but contrary to popular belief, a journal is a useful tool which could accompany you in every stage of your life.
Firstly, according to some psychologists, a personal diary has the potential to be both a therapist and a confident. You can tell your journal the deepest and darkest confessions, which you would not dare verbalize to someone else because of the fear of being judged. In addition to this, it helps you to release your negative emotions as well as prevents you from overthinking which, consequently, makes you feel lighter.
Secondly, keeping a diary increase self-awareness. Taking time to shut out of the outside world and reconnect with your inner-self can lead to incredible self-discovery. To put it in another way, you become aware of your skills, strengths, talents, weaknesses and act upon them.
Last but not least, keeping a journal improves your communication skills. As a matter of fact, when you start writing, you will feel the natural urge to search for new words, as a consequence, your vocabulary will increase which will allow you to express yourself in a clear way.
To put it briefly, having a journal foster your communication skills, keeps your mind relax and allows you to rediscover yourself.
