"Must not" or "should not" for mandatory field in a web form?

In a web form for a mandatory field like "email address", if it is left empty, should we use the verb "must" or "should" in the validation message?
This means the validation message should be:
    • The email address must not be empty
    • The email address should not be empty

I know the difference between "must" and "should", although in this case the system doesn't allow an empty field, therefore the user has not really a choice.
I would like to know from the native speakers, which version sounds better to them?

    Welcome to the forum.

I'd use "Email address field must be completed".

If you really have to use "empty", use "Email address field must not be left empty".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
