    synonym of "number of"

Hello. What word can I use instead of "the number of" in a sentence?
    For example:
"The number of apples is 30." Or "The average number of cars is 10."

    Re: synonym of "number of"

You can say There are thirty apples. "There are" won't work for the second sentence unless you change the order and wording: On average, there are thirty cars.

Thanks. Are there other alternative sentences that I can use instead of above-mentioned sentences?

There is an infinite number of possibilities.

This basket has thirty apples in it.

Thirty cars have run off the road on that curve.

It takes thirty apples to make three of these pies.

This dealership sells thirty cars in an average month.
