Ever since Bob's girlfriend left him

I am wondering if my sentences sound natural.

Ever since Bob's girlfriend left him, he had been short-tempered. He even got into fights on a few occasions.

Re: Ever since Bob's girlfriend left him

I'd leave the first sentence as it is but turn the second into the present perfect.

Ever since Bob's girlfriend left him, he has been short-tempered. He has even got into a few fights.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
