    paid cost took spent

He was in greatneed of money, so he_____$ 5,000 for his car.

    A paid B took C cost D spent

I am really confused with the sentence. According to the meaning, the man needs a lot of money. But all four chioces means money out not money in. Could you please tell me which one is correct? Thank you!

    Re: paid cost took spent

Mike -- please look again at your post. Can you see any mistakes with the spaces between words? Make sure you read carefully every post you write before posting.

The sentence you provide makes little sense without more context. It is difficult to imagine the connection between the two parts of the sentence. I'm not sure how useful these questions are for your English.

I can tell you that C is not correct because you cannot say he cost.

One of the choices does not mean his money is going out.

Sorry Mr.jutfrank, I will be more careful! In fact, I know it's not useful, but I have to do it. This is original question, no more context!

Rover might, but I'm not going to. Just look up the four words. One is not about giving. Only one. That's the right answer.

You won't learn English if you ask other people to do your homework for you.

I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
