IELTS Writing Task 2 (Please review and comment)

First impressions are important. Some people think that doing well in interview is the key to securing the position.
To what extent do you agree?

Job recruitment procedure nowadays often starts with an application process followed by an interview to review the applicant as a suitable candidate. Many argue that doing well in an interview is crucial in securing a job and job seekers should always put extra effort in polishing their soft skills for an interview. It is true that doing well in an interview would have a significant impact on the successful application of a job.

Firstly, an interview is an opportunity for the interview to understand the applicant better. Interviewers often look for people who are outgoing and get along well with colleagues. This is something which cannot be covered by resumes the applicants submit and it is only through social interaction that gives the interviewers a general idea of how the applicant is like as a person.

However, having relevant past job experiences is as important as acing an interview. Regardless of a personís personality, interviewers would always look for people who have previous job experience in the same field. Applicants who are familiar with the field of the company would be able to adapt faster and require very little training. This saves a great deal of time and money for the company by cutting down on the training process.

In conclusion, doing well in an interview is important but only to a certain extent. Job applicants cannot rely solely on interviews or contents of their resumes to secure a position. Both are equally important and job applicants need to pay equal effort on both to successfully land a job offer.

Job recruitment procedure nowadays often starts with an application process followed by an interview to review(assess) the applicant as a suitable candidate(Not all applicants are called for interviews though; it is only those who are shortlisted, as having met the minimum criteria for the job). Many argue that doing well in an interview is crucial in securing a job and job seekers should always put extra effort in polishing their soft skills for an interview. It is true that doing well in an interview would have a significant impact on the successful application of a job.

Firstly, an interview is an opportunity for the interviewer to understand the applicant better. Interviewers often look for people who are outgoing (not necessarily, depending on the position. But having good interpersonal skills is an asset) and get along well with colleagues. This is something which cannot be covered by resumes the applicants submit and it is only through social personal interaction that gives the interviewers a general idea of how the applicant is like as a person.

However, having relevant past job experiences is as important as acing in an interview. Regardless of a person’s personality, interviewers would always look for people who have had previous job experience in the same field. Applicants who are familiar with the field of the company would be able to adapt faster and require very little training. This saves a great deal of time and money for the company by cutting down (repetition) on the training process.(I would expect the job experience is described in one's resume. It is up to the employer to assess if the applicant's experience is acceptable before calling for interview)

In conclusion, doing well in an interview is important but only to a certain extent. Job applicants cannot rely solely on interviews or contents of their resumes to secure a position(What can they rely on then?). Both are equally important and job applicants need to pay make equal effort on both to successfully land a job offer.
