Are both of the following sentences correct?

"There was a bored expression on her face."

"There was a
boring expression on her face."

I learned that we use 'ed' form of adjectives to describe people 's feeling, while 'ing' form of adjectives used to describe how we feel about someone or something.

Now, I am confused which one is correct, because it is not as easy as the following examples to easily be distinguished? (boring or bored)

I was bored by a movie.
Some movies are
boring.

Thanks.

With your example, you need to consider who was bored - the "her" referred to, or the people looking at her. If she is the one who is bored, then there was a "bored expression on her face". If the people who were looking at her felt bored, then there was a "boring expression on her face". However, like Piscean, I can't imagine what a "boring expression" would be.
