Question What does "and back" mean?

    Hi!

Daniel Dennett has written a new book which is "from bacteria to bach and back". What does "and back" mean in this title?

It means from being primitive to being sophisticated to being primitive again.
It is implying that humans started off as primitive, then became civilized and sophisticated, but now we are heading towards primitiveness again.

See above. Remember to start every sentence with a capital letter and to capitalise the word "I" every time you use it.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

The ...and back gives the sense of a journey. Mr. Dennett wants to create the impression that reading this book is a bit like going on a journey.
