    will be admitted

    Hello everybody!

Self-unloading ship Barnim, which belongs to the international group ABC, will be admitted into dry-dock no.1.

Is it acceptable to use "will be admitted" rather than "will enter" or "will go into"?
    Thank you.

It's possible, but it could suggest that this ship is not really welcome. I would also use a definite article at the beginning of the sentence.

Although I like English very much, I find it very hard to understand the use of 'the'. It is beyond my grasp.

    Re: will be admitted

In the above, "ship" is a singular countable noun. That means it requires a determiner (e.g., an article).

And because we are talking about a known/specific ship (Barnim), then the only article that would work is the definite article.

It is one of the hardest things to grasp for speakers of languages who don't use articles. I have studied languages without articles and plurals, and it is a great feeling to know you don't have to worry about these issues in the third lesson. The opposite case is far more troubling.
