    A shred of happiness

I have tried to use "a shred of happiness" in my sentence. Would you please correct my mistakes?

After Martin's wife died, he couldn't find a shred of happiness in life.

    Use "in his life".

    Re: A shred of happiness

    Thank you teechar,

I believed, apparently wrongly, that I could omit "his"in my sentence.

    Re: A shred of happiness

    I prefer it with "his".

With all respect, I prefer Bassim's original version. It is what I as a native speaker would say.
