After marriage my ego will come between us.

After marriage my ego will come between us.

In this sentence is it correct to use "between" or "in between"?

You need a comma after "marriage".
It's still a strange sentence, though.

Where did you read this sentence, tufguy?

It's not the sort of thing one's fiancé(e) wants to hear.

Despite would work better for me, but it's not a natural sentence.

Re: After marriage my ego will come between us.

This sentence can only be understood in the context of the Indian arranged-marriage system.

Our system is based on "girl likes boy, boy likes girl." The Indian system is quite different. It is based on the parents' opinion as to how similar the families are. Are they like us in caste, wealth, social standing, etc,?

Young prople who are facing a match that they find distasteful may be able to escape it by posting such an extreme message e.g. if you force me into this, this is how I am going to treat my partner.

No, sorry to say but it is a misconception. You can marry a person regardless of their cast, status etc. Arranged marriges are arranged for the people who cannot get a partner for themselves. It depends on you, whether you want to get married to a person whom you have been in a relationship with or not. My cousin has just got married to her boyfriend after being in relation with him for sixteen years. So it was a "love arranged" marriage (My cousin is Bhramin "the most upper caste" and that boy is Kshatriya "Khatriya means warrior clan that is lower than Bhramins"). The thing you mentioned happens in villages but in cities if you don't find a partner your parents will find one for you and if you have a partner then you can get married either in arranged or love marriage style. My other cousin is also going to marry her girlfriend soon and they have been in realtion for eight years so again it is going to be a "love arranged" marriage. The families do not see whether they are compatible with each other but they see how the girl and boy get along with each other.

The sentence that I posted was the part of the conversation between a couple a girl and a boy. That boy is saying that his ego may come between them after marriage. That girl is asking him to get married to her.

Note that the highest caste (not "most upper caste") is spelled Brahmin.

I agree with everything you have said. I was thinking of the traditional Indian context of rural life. The majority of Indians are still rural. But you are certainly right that things are quite different in the big cities of India.

It is okay, I wasn't getting angry "with" or "at" (not so sure about this) you. I was just trying to explain what is the situation. You are free to say anything and I don't mind anyone saying anything.
