    gain business or receive business

When you buy something from a store, you give them business. If you look at this the other way around, can you say:

(ex) Every summer, the local stores receive or gain business from their customers.

Does either verb in red work? Please help me. Thanks.

The verb you need is "get".

Re: gain business or receive business

Thanks, teechar. Besides "get", is it impossible to find any other verbs that work in my sentence? Please help me again.

    Does "obtain business" work?

    Thanks.

    It's possible, but unnecessary.

Re: gain business or receive business

You could say that the stores attract more business/customers in the summer.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
