Peter spent more than 20 years

I am wondering if my sentences make sense in English. Would you please correct my mistakes?

Peter spent more than 20 years looking for the love of his life. When he finally found her, he was disappointed. He thought it was more interesting searching for her than living with her.

Robert Louis Stevenson put it so well in one of his essays:

"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive."

He possibly should have spent more time thinking about the woman he'd love before searching.
