the number of deaths soared four millions in the current year compared with 1.5 m

    Hello.

Does it sound normal to say " the number of deaths soared four millions in the current year compared with 1.5 million in 2011."?

    Thank you.

    Here's one possibility.

The number of deaths from cancer increased to 4 million in 2016 compared to 1.5 million in in 2011.

    I wouldn't say deaths soared.

Re: the number of deaths soared four millions in the current year compared with 1.5

Did the number of deaths soar to 4 million or by 4 million? The result would be different depending on which one you used. If there were 1.5 million deaths in 2011 and the number soared to 4 million in 2016, there were 4 million in 2016. If there were 1.5 million deaths in 2011 and the number soared by 4 million in 2016, there were 5.5 million in 2016.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I don't see how deaths can soar, but if you insist, okay.

(Certainly, the number of deaths can increase or decrease from year to another.)

Deaths or the number(s) of deaths could soar in the UK. But then we have socialist pinko commie health care where everyone suffers appallingly, according to some American politicians.
