Re: master's program or master program

Hi,

The 'master's program' is correct, in my view. The 'master program' makes it sound like there are a number of different ecology programs and the one you are applying for is the top/main/best one. You will also hear 'I'm doing a Master's in ....', again with the 's.

'Master', without the 's is often heard in phrases like 'the master bedroom' (the main one of several), or 'the master key' (the one that opens all the rooms), for example.

I hope this helps.

Sue

Re: master's program or master program

It would be more natural to say you're happy to apply for the program.

Remember to capitalize the word "I". Don't put a space before a colon.

The OP has a request in the Support Area for his/her account to be deleted. I suspect that is the reason for deleting a post which had attracted useful responses.

Re: master's program or master program

Thanks, Piscean, for pointing out what went down. I was confused when all I saw in the title was "." and then answers by Sue01 and GoesStation which made absolutely no sense since the question was "thank you guys!"
