    number one size

Harris is what you would call a well-made man of about number one size, and looks hard and bony. (from "Three men" by Jerome K. Jerome)

Does "number one size" mean "big"? And is there "number two size", or is it an idiomatic expression?

I have never seen that phrase before, so I have the same questions you do.

I have no idea at all. Note that you misspelt "Jerome" both times in his name.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: number one size

I'd guess that Jerome meant Harris was very short but muscular. He'd be using "number one size" as a wordier way to say "size one".

What on earth does "size one" mean?

    Re: number one size

When sizing items like shoes or dresses, it means "very small".

Do you think Jerome humorously said that Harris was extremely small?
