What were you doing last Thursday evening?, he asked.

‘What were you doing last Thursday evening?’, he asked.

    Is the comma needed?

    Thanks.

Re: What were you doing last Thursday evening?, he asked.

I would not use a comma there.

    I would.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: What were you doing last Thursday evening?, he asked.

I don't think the comma is really needed. What is it doing? The question mark effectively plays the role of separation.

I'm not a fan of more punctuation so I have to vote no.
