Hello all,

Here is the thing, I was having a conversation with my friends this evening and we were talking about different places and then he started talking about Singapore so I said "My brother has been there".

Just trying to figure out if this is a correct usage "My brother has been there".

1) I did not want to give any time frame neither did I remember the time or any other details so, I didnt use the simple past.
2) I did not use past perfect (My brother had been there) because I had no other past event to connect to it.

Many Thanks

Your reasoning is correct. It means your brother was there at least once at some unspecified time.
