Are my sentences incorrect? This sentence is grammatically correct.

Could you please tell me how much does a L spine MRI cost? This sentence is not grammatically correct.

Is this sentence correct? This sentence is grammatically correct.

As you can see, your first and third sentences were OK. Your second sentence was not. Try to write sentence 2 again. Here's a clue - the finished result should not contain the word "does". There are other changes that need to be made.

That's okay, but it's more concise and more natural to simply ask how much something costs rather than what the cost of it is.

You might write that, but I've never heard anyone asking about an "L spine MRI".

I think l-spine MRI is common terminology. Don't capitalize the l and always include the hyphen.

Unless Kim Jong-Un needs a particular type of MRI scan and happens to know the name of it, I am not at all worried about him in this thread. However, tufguy, who has been undergoing medical treatment for some time, has a real interest in this.

I'm afraid Kim desperately needs a brain MRI. Even if he is not interested, other people have a real interest in knowing what his brain is made of.

'L' by itself means 'left' in medical parlance, at least in Aus. So, even written, it's ambiguous here. 'Lumbar' is an easy word.

I think it's more likely "lumbar". I don't know what left spine means.

A quick Google search for l spine MRI will reveal overwhelmingly lumbar spine while a search for left spine MRI reveals no results whatsoever. Does it mean L is not left in medical parlance? No. But in this specific case, l spine means lumbar spine.

Perhaps we could return to the issue of:
1. Could you tell me the cost of ...
2. Could you tell me what is the cost of...
3. Could you tell me what .... costs.
4. What is the cost of ...?
5. What does .... cost?

I think most of us would agree that 2 is the least likely.
I would be more likely to use 1 or 4 because I'd want to know it's the cost that is the focus so I'd put that up front.
5 is certainly the most direct, but for me, it would be later in a conversation that was already discussing the costs of various procedures.

I'd still probably use "How much is a XXX?" or "How much does a/an XXX cost?" Using "How much" at the beginning brings in the idea of price right at the start too. For politeness, I might start "Could/Can you tell me how much ...?"

Do we need to say "could you please tell me how much MRI L spine costs"? If we are saying "could you please tell me then we don't have to use "does" am I correct?
