    freedom

What does "freedoms" mean in this twitter thread? Or can you paraphrase the underlined sentence?

PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU'RE OFFERED IT. Originally auctioned for @englishpen, the owner supported writers' freedoms by bidding for it.

    Thanks!

    Re: freedom

Can any English teacher paraphrase "The owner supported writers' freedoms by bidding for it"in this context?

    Thanks!

    Re: freedom

This story was sold by auction to raise money for organisations defending the freedom of writers. The person who was to become the owner put in bids for the story, eventually putting in the highest bid. They did this in order to support the cause.
