Jim was of the view that Harris was the carbon copy of his father.

Jim was of the view that Harris was the carbon copy of his father.

Could you please explain "was of the view"?

"Three Men In A Boat" you asked me not to read that novel because it was written in 1889. I stopped reading it. I am not following it as I used to do earlier. When you asked me not to read it I stopped. But I read it casually to know about the story. It is something that can be used in day to day life "was of the view" so I asked you about it.

"Was of the view" means that Jim held the opinion mentioned next - that Harris looked exactly like his father.
    I am not a teacher.
