I'd rather......

"I'm very busy at the moment. I can't talk to you. I'd rather you (came) tomorrow. "

The above sentence is quoted from a grammar workbook.

I don't understand why they used (came) after (I'd rather)?

If I have a choice, I'll use (come) instead of (came).

Can anyone help?
