Bob always felt out of place

I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

Bob always felt out of place, even in his hometown.

    It is grammatically correct.

Hometown is an adjective, at least in AmE. Write "home town".
    I am not a teacher.

It's a noun in BrE. If you go to onelook.com and search for "hometown", there are 21 results. I checked the top five results and all give it as one word, a noun, meaning the town where one was born and/or grew up.
