    such as, etc, for example

I am not sure whether the use of "such as, etc, for example" is correct or not?

Cartoon characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, and Pink Panther are still popular with youngsters.

    They are all OK.

I don't think any of the three sentences were correct as written. They're OK with the above punctuation amendments.

Both. bhaisahab meant that your use of such as, etc and for example was okay, and GoesStation pointed out some errors in your example sentences.

I don't like the "etc." You say "such as" so we already know you're not giving an exhaustive list.

Are those lines in red hyphen?

Don't we have to put ',' before such as, as you did in first sentence in the revised edition?

Finally, what is the wrong with my example?
I have seen the use of 'for example' in the middle of a sentence with commas around.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that example. I wouldn't use the two dashes '--'.

    No, we don't have to.

I wouldn't say it's wrong, but like GoesStation I like using dashes. They break up sentences clearly.

Specifically, they are two pairs of two hyphens. Together, two hyphens are equivalent to a single dash. The dash is the correct character there, but it's inconvenient to insert one using the forum's editor.
