    Past Perfect

Hello. Can somebody help me to understand why in the following sentence is being used Past Perfect:

"They had completed the athletics track only a year after the city got the Olympics."

If I understand it correctly then Past Perfect is used when we want to say about something that happened before not after something in the past.

    Re: Past Perfect

First, please correct the information in your member profile. The current location (Rwanda) appears to be incorrect.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
