    He did go to school

"He did go to school"- basically combine a past tense verb and present tense verb for an overall past tense. I was just wondering and searching for similar examples.

Re: What is this verb form called

Hello cloa, and welcome to the forum.

What you have is not a combination of two tenses. It is an emphatic form of the past tense.

Cloa, I have changed your thread title. Titles should include some/all of the words/phrases you are querying.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: He did go to school

This might be used after someone said that he didn't go to school as a way of contradicting them. It is past tense, but it is used for emphasis in cases like contradiction.
