    soar for water

Is there a word that means 'going up to the surface from the bottom of the lake or river'? It can be the opposite of plunging into the water. It can also be onomatopoeic (corrected).

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    Re: soar for water

The verb to surface means that.

    surface v.intr

    to rise to the surface:
    [no object]
The submarine surfaced and switched on its radar.
    (Collins)

Note the correct spelling of onomatopoeic.

Are there any popular slang verbs which are synonymous to 'to surface'? To pop up?
And can we use 'to surface' to talk about a diver?

Fishermen sometimes speak of fish 'breaking' the surface.
