    hi, could you read chineses? i am chinese too ^^


    i think both of them are correct.

    1.if you used "is" , it means there is only one ( $2000 bill )!
    2. if you used "are" , it means there are "many" ($2000 bills) !

    I agree with endeavour, but for a slightly different reason. In the first sentence you are really saying "here is a sum/total/gift, etc of $2000 dollars", so you are talking about a single item. In the second you are talking about the dollars - plural.

    To my knowledge, sums of money are regarded as singular.
    Here is 2000 dollars.
    2000 dollars is a pretty penny.
    Here are 2000 one-dollar notes.
