    assert / affirm: state positively

    "Some scientists asserted that nuclear power was a safe."

    If the above sentence were negative can we not use verbs assert/affirm?

    There's a word in your sentence that shouldn't be there. Can you see what it is?
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    As in the title should state be positive use?

    Is this wrong: "Some scientists asserted that nuclear power was not safe"? Is it wrong because it is negative?

    Assert or affirm can be accompanied by a negative or positive statement.
