    Assumed to be normally distributed

    Hi,

    Which is better?

X is assumed normally distributed vs X is assumed to be normally distributed

Both are used, as follows from Ngrams, the latter being much more frequent. But if both are correct, I'd prefer the more concise X is assumed normally distributed. Would that be OK?

    Thanks,
    nyggus

Re: Assumed to be normally distributed

Thanks Piscean. In this particular situation I'm talking about, the shorter version suits better my purpose to make the list parallel, hence - since it's up to me - I'll choose it.

If the text's style permits the active voice, write the concise Assume X is normally distributed.
