which preposition is better: against or for

    Hello.
    Should I say:
Personal protection equipment against burns and UV radiation should be used.
    or
Personal protection equipment for burns and UV radiation should be used?
I fully support the first version but I may be wrong.
What is your take on that?
    Thank you.

The first makes more sense because we protect ourselves against things but you'll see/hear the second, with for, quite frequently in BrE.

You could get around the issue by saying "Burn and UV radiation protection should be used" but I prefer the original.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I suggest that for is better as the subject is equipment, not protection.

    protect against something
    equipment for something

I would say that the subject is "personal protection equipment".

That's what I meant. The 'head' of this subject noun phrase is equipment.

The equipment protects against UV. I'd use that word.
    I am not a teacher.
