Articles again: please check this sentence

    Hi,

Please have a look at the following sentence:

Consider a dataset with values of all variables X, Y, and Z. Values of variable X are in the first row of the dataset; values of variable Y, in the rows from N1+1 to N2; and values of variable Z, in the rows from N2+1 to N3.

Please check the use of articles (both used and omitted) in this sentence.

    Thanks,
    nyggus

Thanks a lot. Would be OK to write "values of the variable X", or rather we should not use the definite article in such cases (as I did)?

Similarly, moving to programming, can I write "using the loop for" or rather "using loop for" - here for is the name of a particular command. Or, can I write, "In R, you can simulate the normal distribution with the command rnorm," or I should remove the emboldened article?

You don't need the article here.

can I write "using the loop for" or rather "using loop for" - here for is the name of a particular command.
Yes, it's better to use the article here...

can I write, "In R, you can simulate the normal distribution with the command rnorm," or I should remove the emboldened article?
    ...and here.

I think you mean using the for loop or more likely using a for loop.
    I am not a teacher.
