    Hi,
Is the use of "on the other hand" correct in the following paragraph?

Foreign educational institutions may offer better and more courses that suit students' academic requirements. In addition, qualification gained broad may pave the way for better job opportunity. On the other hand, those studying abroad are responsible for cooking, cleaning, and paying bills, so they will become more independent.

I would not use "on the other hand" in that statement. When you use this phrase you are using it in a comparison of choices.

He really wanted to take algebra this semester. On the other hand, if the classes were full, he could take geometry now and then take algebra in the following semester.

In your example, "cooking, cleaning and bill paying" has nothing to do with getting a better job opportunity. You should eliminate "on the other hand" from the sentence.
