At the ceremony before school holidays

I am not sure if my sentence sounds natural or if it is grammatically correct. Would you please correct my mistakes?

At the ceremony before school holidays, the head teacher listed all the distinguished figures who had attended the school, and he told the students they should see them as their guiding stars.

    See above.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
