    Is he indeed?

    Are both variants equally common?
    1) "It's my sister?" "Oh, really?"
    2) "It's my sister." "Oh, is it indeed?"
If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    Re: Is he indeed?

No. We don't use 'indeed' much, apart from 'Thank you very much indeed'.

    Re: Is he indeed?

"Indeed, ..." often starts a sentence in which the speaker agrees with the previous content, and/or is going on to add further emphasis. Indeed, I wouldn't say it was rare in more formal and academic discourse.

    Re: Is he indeed?

It works perfectly well in BrE. It would be used, however, to indicate the speaker's possible disbelief at the previous statement.

Mother: Why are you so late home?
Son: I got attacked by a zombie on the way back from school!
Mother: Oh, did you indeed?! And I suppose Spiderman swung in and rescued you too.
Son: Yeah, how did you guess?!
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
