Is there any difference in meaning between the sentences?

1- There is almost no man in the meeting.

2- There are almost no men in the meeting.

And if there is no difference, which one would you prefer?

Neither is natural.

There is only one man at the meeting.

There are only two men at the meeting.

There are very few men at the meeting.
