    to have a blood test

I need to have / do / take a blood test.
I need to have / do / take an X-ray.

Are all the alternatives above correct? Which ones are more commonly used?

Re: to have a blood test

'Do' doesn't work for me from the perspective of the person receiving the procedure. If I were the technician administering the procedure, then I might use 'do'.

I'm more likely to use 'have' with a past participle, but you'll hear it without that past participle.

I need to have a blood test done.
I need to have an X-ray taken.

Another common alternatives (at least in AmE) is 'get'.

I need to get a blood test (done).
I need to get an X-ray (taken).

Get works fine in BrE as well.

Re: to have a blood test

The sentences in post #2 which use "have" don't need "done" at the end in BrE.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
