develop my career plans as well as developing my academic skills and knowledge.

Is this sentence correct both logically and grammatically?

I have chosen XYZ University in order to develop my career plans as well as developing my academic skills and knowledge.

See above. "Developing" doesn't work. Repeating "to develop" is optional. I find the sentence better without it.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    So many thanks.
I thought that after "as well as" we could only use "ing" form of a verb.

No, that's not true. Various things can go after "as well as".

I have three cats and two dogs as well as a gerbil.
I like swimming and yoga as well as badminton.
I am using this as an opportunity to develop my social skills as well as to find new friends.
He plans to continue doing charity work as well as helping people with their computer problems.

    So many thanks.

@emsr2d2 is correct in saying that "developing" is wrong and that "to develop" is correct.

What she did not do is explain the reason.

I think that the reason has to do with using parallel structures on either side of "as well as".

I have chosen XYZ University in order to develop my career plans as well as to develop my academic skills and knowledge.

Here you have infinitives on both sides, they are parallel. However, the sentence is even better when you eliminate the second "to develop".

I have chosen XYZ University in order to develop my career plans as well as my academic skills and knowledge.

This makes a much more interesting sentence.

It does not always have to be an infinitive after "as well as"

    For example
    :

He is a great artist as well as being the best teacher we ever had.

He is a great artist as well as the best teacher we ever had.

I cannot imagine the use of the infinitive "to be" being used here. However this sentence can also be written by avoiding the use of a gerund. The last way is probably better but I see nothing wrong either way.

As long as there is a parallel structure you can use gerunds after "as well as"

She is creating the drawings as well as making the prototype of the toy.

She is creating the drawings as well as to make the prototype of the toy.

The first is correct because "creating" and "making" are parallel structures.

If you can avoid using a gerund or infinitive in constructing the sentence that is the best approach. However, if you want to use a gerund or infinitive after "as well as", make sure that the one you choose is parallel with the previous verb.

Why do you make such a statement without an example of what you mean. I would like to see one. please.

Thanks Lynxear. I know I have to press "thank" and "like" buttons to avoid posting more. However, they are not enough to say how much I appreciate your help.
